Money Making Tips for the Unemployed

When you got married in your big, bought-and-paid-for wedding gown and you looked across at your husband in his rented tux, you probably didn’t think that “For richer or for poorer” was going to look quite like this.

Even on the best day, marriage can throw a few curve balls. Yet, in this kind of economy, where we are reminded that being in love doesn’t keep the lights on or put food in our mouths, the lack of jobs that are available for both men and women can lead people to the brink—the brink of high anxiety or wanting to call it quits (or both)… Read more

The Anatomy of a Fight: Miscommunication

Let’s face it. Every couple fights. The above scenario is a very common one and the main issue there is not either member of the couple..it is miscommunication. Understanding how the above can happen requires knowledge of the difference in male and female psychology. Not only do men and women think very differently, but they communicate and process those thoughts differently as well. He truly feels that he was being compassionate and caring. She really feels he was being a jerk. He failed to communicate his thoughts properly, and she failed to communicate her needs. He cannot read your mind… Read More

Go Ask Your Mother

OK, so raise your hand if you’re a wife and mother and you’ve walked into a room and heard your husband say this to one of your kids: “Um, go ask your mother.”

Already you know it’s not going to be something like, “Go ask your mother if she wants an eternity band for her birthday” or “Go ask your mother if she’d like us to cook dinner tonight.” Of course, it’s going to be about something that your hubby, for whatever the reason (he’s watching the game, he’s on the phone, he doesn’t want to be “the bad guy”), doesn’t want to deal with and since you have absolutely nothing to do—insert sarcasm here—he volunteers you to take it on. Yet, when the two of you made your little bundle of joy, it was a group effort. And so, when it comes to raising your son or daughter, it should be as well… read more

In Search of the Conveniently Nutritious

It’s no secret or surprise that the majority of U.S. families increasingly rely on convenience foods and fast foods to meet the demands of their family’s high-speed, high-stress lifestyle. Two-income families, longer work days, over-scheduled kids, rising costs of the changing economy, an overwhelming assault of conflicting health information, and the challenges of managing work, home and family life are among the many factors that contribute to the deep complexities related to food selection and the growing disconnect people have with real food… read more

No One-Size-Fits-All Directions

There is no one-size-fits-all directions on how to make a marriage work or how to be a good husband. But there are some common problems that many married couples face. If you can manage to keep a few easy steps in your marriage, these steps just might make a big difference.
1. Communicate-you don’t have to talk just for the sake of talking, but try to keep one another involved in your simple everyday life. Husbands, you do not have to talk her ear off. We are not asking for that.
2. Be honest-Like the old saying “honesty is the best policy” that still holds true today. It’s not easy to be honest but it is nice to be label truthful.
3. Respect- Show each other respect. A quick way to fall out of love in any relationship is by allowing contempt and resentment to creep into that relationship.
4. Be Romantic - Go out on dates. Act as if you are still courting one another. Learn to not take one another for granted.
5. Be Helpful- Many marriages find themselves in trouble because one partner feels like they do most to all of the work. Especially where kids are concerned. By being more helpful and available can show on a whole different level a new sex appeal and love.

Sex with Hubby

I recently read an article about the fact that there are more and more people divorcing and they’re not citing the traditional “irreconcilable differences” (what really is that anyway?!?) as the reason. Nope. It’s due to mental cruelty and not the kind that entails physical or verbal abuse, either. Actually, people are getting angry because they’re not getting laid. It’s pretty understandable being that, well, isn’t one of the perks of getting married so people can have sex? And here’s the thing: It’s not just men who feel like their partner is holding out on them. There are many wives who feel like they’re not “getting their fill” (no pun intended) too; although, the reasons why seem to differ a bit… read more

Sex Is Only One Part Of A Marriage?

There’s an old saying: sex is only one part of a marriage. But when it’s not, it’s the biggest part. Experts say that 15 percent of married couples in this country have not had sex in a year, according to Tara Parker-Pope of The New York Times. And while that may not seem like that many, it translates into quite a few million people… read more
